First Aid Recertification
The instructor must verify that the student has a valid St John Ambulance, or approved Alberta Training Agency certificate to register in this course. Approve courses are displayed on the St. John Ambulance website. No out-of-province certificates are accepted.
Certificates must be valid up to and including the day of the course
Student must bring their valid First Aid certificate to the class and are permitted to provide a copy of their certificate but it must be vertified as an original copy.
A student cannot recertify on a certificate that is above their level (eg cannot recertify from a CPR A to a CPR C).
Manuals must be given to the students no later than one week prior to the commencement of the course with emphasis placed on reviewing materials that they will be examined on.
Recertification classes must be stand-alone and cannot be taught in conjunction with any full length class.
Recertification is a challenge of both the theory and practical examination prior to certificate expiry and includes documented retesting of all mandatory skills. After certificate expiry date, retraining is required.
